An Open Letter to Men

Dear Men,

If you think this is going to be some sappy love poem or any sort of cheesy thing like that then you are totally, positively, and absolutely wrong. I am writing to address a serious topic, so buckle up.

Now before you get mad, I am going to clarify. I know a lot of nice guys who treat girls perfectly fine, but there is always that crabby old guy who thinks girls are delicate china dolls that aren’t capable of doing anything for themselves. So if you know someone like that, then you tell them that they need to cut it out (although I would be a little bit more polite than that if I were you).

In the Bible, a clever and beautiful girl named Delilah accomplished what a thousand armed men couldn’t. She snatched away the strength of the great and mighty Sampson. Sampson had his strength given to him by God. For years the army of Philistine had hunted him and failed, but it took Delilah only a month at most to learn the secret of his strength and hand the now weak and pitiful man to the triumphant king of Philistine.

Now you might be thinking, “But Megan, women are treated fairly. They can vote and go to college and a lot of other things.” I am not saying that this is wrong but let me ask you this. Where are the female presidents? I bet you didn’t think about that. You are right though, women are treated a lot better than they were in the past, but there is always room for improvement.

I am sure this won’t be my last letter on this subject, so be prepared for another lecture.

Sincerely,

Megan

  1. I love your letter! definitely got the point across! Very creative, and funny, too. The way you wrote it as a rant/argument sort of thing is awesome! your a great writer!!!

  2. Megan I love your how you started you open letter. My favorite sentences are If you think this is going to be some sappy love poem or any sort of cheesy thing like that then you are totally, positively, and absolutely wrong. I am writing to address a serious topic, so buckle up. These sentences are my favorite because you used figurative language and sensory details.

  3. Megan this is so true. I’ve always wanted someone to say something about this. I love how you said how “that crabby old guy thinks girls are delicate china dolls that aren’t capable of doing anything themselves”. That is how I feel everyday.
